Billy Max Moore Award: The National Association of Institutional Agribusiness (NAIA) is fortunate to represent a workforce of productive and dedicated public sector employees. Far too often, nonetheless, the efforts and accomplishments of outstanding workers go unrecognized. The Board of Directors believe there should be a national annual award that encourages and rewards the exemplary performance of staff actively engaged in institutional agribusiness.
This award has been named in honor of Billy Max Moore, who was an employee of the Texas Department of Corrections from 1968 to 1981. Mr. Moore was farm manager of the Ellis Unit, and an active member of the NAIA. Mr. Moore lost his life in the line of duty on April 4, 1981.
It is in recognition of his supreme sacrifice and in commemoration of his service to the Texas Department of Corrections and institutional agribusiness that the Board of Directors dedicates this award.
This award is designed to focus attention on the degree to which excellence exists in our profession and to recognize outstanding performance by the candidate selected as the annual recipient. Nominations will be accepted for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding performance in contributing to the achievement of the agribusiness programs goals and objectives. The Executive Directors will then select one individual who will receive the annual award in recognition of his/her accomplishments.
